The fire at Villagio Mall is a tragedy.
Published number of fatalities is not a reflection of phone images recorded, I believe.
Condolences to any who are directly hurt.
I know there were some Spanish children lost, I do hope it was none of our newly arrived Spanair friends!

Very sad day in doha .

I saw some off the images from this link below

Qatari Shopping Mall Catches Fire, Deaths Confirmed (VIDEO) · ragandbonechi · Storify (http://storify.com/ragandbonechi/qatari-shopping-mall-catches-fire)

Some emergency exit doors have pad-locks on them , total mess!

Also I find it rather disturbing that the MOI (government) has asked people not to discuss the topic on social media sites to prevent over reactions . That can be found on the moi website

May all the deceased rip

the mall operators, and perhaps the fire safety officers are to be held reponsable for corporate manslaughter.

to instruct the population not to discuss the manslaughter on social media is censorship of the corporate manslaughter.

In response, perhaps we should all go to our local malls today and photograph the emergency exits, post these to the civil defence departments responsable.

Lots of photos, videos and comment here Doha News (http://dohanews.co/)

Also much comment (not all sensible) on Qatar Living here Qatar Living | Everything you need to know about living in Qatar (http://www.qatarliving.com/)
Go to the forums - there are multiple threads scattered all over the place.

On English language TV, BBC World News and Sky both have fairly extensive reports.
Al Jazeera however has very little.

SkyNews says three New Zealand triplets died in the fire! Triplets! My God, those parents must be sufferring. I can't even imagine their anguish, God help them. I hope they have a lot of support. They will surely need it.
Unbelievably tragic.

Hopefully something good will come out of this shameful and regrettable loss of life.

unfortunately I can only see the blame going to those lowest on the rung........ (for those that are here, you know what I mean) :ugh:

Yep, it will be blamed on poor Ranjit and his fellow ill paid and ill trained colleagues for using the wrong connector in the sprinkler system. Case closed!
