Headstone
26th May 2012, 22:15
With the kind permission of a mod I am writing this on behalf on The Goldfish Club. This is an organisation which was formeed in 1942 for aviators rescued from the sea. Qualification is quite simple in that all you have to do is be rescued from the sea after ditching in your aircraft or coming down into the drink from any kind of flying machine and subsequently being rescued.
Most members are RAF, ex-RAF, a sprinkling of Royal Navy plus civilians and a number of overseas memebers again both civil and Military backgrounds. Partners also become members. Ages range from quite young to surviving WWII members the oldest of whom has just celebrated his 100th birthday. Every year the club holds a reubion weekend in a UK hotel where they meet to catch up with colleagues, swap stories attend a dinner dance and generally have a good time. As this is the club's 70th anniversary they are hoping to get as many existing members to attend the celebrations plus find new recruits to join in. The reunion will be held over the weekend of Friday 7th to Sunday 9th September in a hotel near Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire. Partners are of course invited if you wish them to come along.

Please look at their website
