Hi All,

I remember going back a few years that Heathrow Airport always used to do a family event in the what was the Visitor's Centre carpark which was brilliant. It had a big marquee, Raffle, Simulator, bands etc

Does anyone know if they still do this?

Thanks very much

Azman,

I doubt BAA do anything that might encourage to people not using the airport to pay a visit. The visitor centre closed some time ago, car park charges are excessive and enthusiasts are made to feel unwelcome. BAA have had several opportunities to provide a facility for people who like to watch aircraft be they enthusiasts / photographers or relatives of those flying in or out. The only decent visitor facility in the UK is Manchester. Alternatively take a trip to Amsterdam - excellent terrace and they are going to restart tours, Frankfurt / Munich / Zurich all offer airside tours and generally cater well for non flying visitors.

Note that Amsterdam also has excellent off airport facilities close to a couple of the runways.
