Absolutely utter disgrace, the crew should be dismissed immediately, their callousness meant that there was someone somewhere who needed saving who wasn't, how can they live with themselves..................

Must admit kinda peeded off at this, had I been on that beach would have had a row with the crewman about paying for the ice creams but would have insisted littlie got a chance to look inside as payback :)

Loved the story but the Lossie crew who were practising just to the west of Portknockie yesterday afternoon missed a trick. Should have landed on for a debrief and got one of us watching you to go get you an ice cream. Plenty of time as you were there a while. Not me like, being non aircrew during my time in light blue I would have just got the biggest ice lolly I could find and taunt you with it as I slowly ate it in the sun .. :E

Not an uncommon affair and to be quite honest, saving money too. Whilst "debriefing" the relatively inexperienced co-pilot whilst sat on the ground, the fuel burn is far less than flogging around the sky. End result - cost saving to the taxpayer & the crew end up happy too on a hot day! :D

Isn't it such a pity that "an R.A.F. source" has to offer such a trite 'explanation' for what was a non-event, for fear of massive retribution for all concerned, instead of being able to say something along the lines of "Just f:mad: off and grow up. There was no harm done, and little or no expense incurred (apart from the cost of the Magnums!)

I spoke to the SAR HQ at RAF Valley last week, obviously enjoying the pic of the 771 crew having their ice cream at Lands End after delivering the olympic torch.
According to SAR HQ, everything was properly authorized and completely legal.

So what´s the news?
Nothing else to report? Everything else working out nicely?
