Shocking!

Just shows what the world has come to.

Four magnums in these days of austerity – Whatever happened to a 99 with a flake?

Oh no, not again so soon! What with there being a similar disgraceful event, and a huge thread about it only a couple of days since. Do people never learn?

I think the "Olympic Flame" thread has the best take on this...:D

Absolutely utter disgrace, the crew should be dismissed immediately, their callousness meant that there was someone somewhere who needed saving who wasn't, how can they live with themselves..................

Ooops sorry this is PPrune not Daily Mail whinge fest............

Must admit kinda peeded off at this, had I been on that beach would have had a row with the crewman about paying for the ice creams but would have insisted littlie got a chance to look inside as payback :)

Nowt wrong with fair trade ;)

Loved the story but the Lossie crew who were practising just to the west of Portknockie yesterday afternoon missed a trick. Should have landed on for a debrief and got one of us watching you to go get you an ice cream. Plenty of time as you were there a while. Not me like, being non aircrew during my time in light blue I would have just got the biggest ice lolly I could find and taunt you with it as I slowly ate it in the sun .. :E

Thanks for the show though, much appreciated by all .. :ok:

Not an uncommon affair and to be quite honest, saving money too. Whilst "debriefing" the relatively inexperienced co-pilot whilst sat on the ground, the fuel burn is far less than flogging around the sky. End result - cost saving to the taxpayer & the crew end up happy too on a hot day! :D

Isn't it such a pity that "an R.A.F. source" has to offer such a trite 'explanation' for what was a non-event, for fear of massive retribution for all concerned, instead of being able to say something along the lines of "Just f:mad: off and grow up. There was no harm done, and little or no expense incurred (apart from the cost of the Magnums!)

Captin to Co, discussing the rarther portly crewman.....

I know what you’re thinking: "Did he eat six magnums, or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement, I’ve kinda lost track myself. But being this is a dark chocolate Magnum, the tastiest ice cream in the world, and would blow your tastebuds clean off, you’ve got to ask yourself one question: "Do I feel lucky?" Well do ya, punk?;)

If you look at the Telegraph link, click through to the second picture and look at the impact this action has had on the two young onlookers - I hope the crew can live with themselves! :ok:

Obviously reponding to a 99(9) call.

One wonders what the MoD press office and the 'media exploitation cell' are paid for if they can't recognise the positive PR in this situation - all the local press and TV ran supportive and encouraging stories. The resulting 'witch hunt' from the MoD has been embarrassing to watch.:ugh:

Yes, that one could have been positive PR. How about a shut down, ice cream, invite the onlookers to have a quick nose around etc?

Was it anything to do with this?! :ooh:

I have no problem with this at all but I have a question.

Do aircrew carry money around with them?

I spoke to the SAR HQ at RAF Valley last week, obviously enjoying the pic of the 771 crew having their ice cream at Lands End after delivering the olympic torch.
According to SAR HQ, everything was properly authorized and completely legal.

So what´s the news?
Nothing else to report? Everything else working out nicely?
