Lindbergh created the environment for very rapid advances in flight technology. Eleven years later, Howard Hughes' Lockheed 14 flew the same route, carrying 5 souls in half the time. It was the first leg of his round-the-world flight (http://digital.library.unlv.edu/hughes/world.php).

talk about advancement...Le Bourget, the French Airport is still an airport (where Lindbergh landed)

and Roosevelt Field, where Lindbergh took off, is now a shopping mall!~

Lindbergh was instrumental in getting rocket scientist robert goddard funded, lindy developed the perfusion pump making organ transplants possible.
