View Full Version : Damage to 747-8 Freighter jetsetter1k 16th May 2012, 16:57 There is talk on another discussion forum that there is some serious damage to the flaps of B-LJE a new 747-8 Freighter ? Anyone got any news ? spannersatcx 16th May 2012, 17:49 I believe somebody in HKG broke it! BusyB 16th May 2012, 17:57 Broke on retraction. Spanners knows we climb on the wing to do that:confused: asianeagle 17th May 2012, 06:52 Apparently some components not up to spec, fleet wide  Boeing in town putting out fires, rumors of grounding??????? jetsetter1k 17th May 2012, 08:27 This certainly doesnt help the boeing sales guys pitching the 747-8i !! Fr8t M8te 17th May 2012, 09:19 This should get interesting Basil 17th May 2012, 10:17 Shades of the -100 :( Flightmech 17th May 2012, 10:56 I believe its an issue with a poor batch of flap rods from one particular vendor that break and then flap damaged is the result. There's another -8F operator that is now having the same issue:{ badairsucker 17th May 2012, 11:52 A mate who flies the -800 with another operator has been stood down for two days. Apparently a worldwide grounding of the -800 til the parts have been replaced. Anyone confirm???? Flightmech 17th May 2012, 12:00 Dont think there's been a grounding. Boeing have issued an MOM to operators to order replacements, inspect the rods (physical and NDT?) and replace as required. Being pedantic there's no such thing as a -800, its an -8i/-8F Flightmech 17th May 2012, 13:51 eeerr...no i'm not! Cumguzzler 17th May 2012, 20:16 Just got off the phone GC and according to him Vandelay Industries just came out with a modified transfer tube. Supposedly it should fix the problem with cracks in the old tubes. The reason for cracks were old latex from the molds somehow managed to corrupt the TI tubes. santorum 17th May 2012, 23:05 True story, I heard Art was investigating this. PERSONALLY Jizzmonkey 18th May 2012, 00:15 it would never have happened on an airbus. QA is so much better than Boeing. good luck guys but I know I won't be putting my hand up to fly it Loopdeloop 18th May 2012, 01:33 I heard the official term at CX was Mark 8! nitpicker330 18th May 2012, 03:56 "QA is so much better than Boeing" Wow, what a crap stupid incorrect statement to make. I hope you were joking? |
