I hope this will be accepted on this board, it is after all a heli-question.
If I have a certain amount of hours in an aircraft in a non-EASA country, what is needed for me to get type rated on that helicopter under EASA? Say I have EASA ATPL-H and 1000 hours on the EC155, what would I need to do to fly it legally under EASA? Then again, what if I have 1000 hours in both the EC225 and the EC155 and want to have a type rating on both?

If you have type rating from let's say FAA or CASA (non-EASA licence), and you've EASA licence... Only proficiency check with EASA examiner on type.

Acceptance of class and type ratings
100hrs in single engine piston helicopters
350hrs flight time in that class, for all other helicopters
'passing skills test in accordance with Part-FCL'
being current in flying practice
complying with experience and prerequisites for issuing the rating under Part-FCL
(can't copy/paste from that PDF right now)
I don't have big stuff experience, but the logic suggests that if the JAA heli TR was doable to have skills test in sim, the EASA Part-FCL would be the same. But don't quote me on that. I don't have Euro licences yet..

Martin is slightly off on the singles:
FCL 2.240
(6) A type rating contained in a licence
issued by a non-JAA State may be transferred
to a JAR-FCL licence, subject to the
appropriate proficiency check, provided the
applicant is in current flying practice and:
(i) for a single-engine turbine and
single-engine piston helicopters with a
MTOM <3175 Kg. has not less than 100
hours flying experience as a pilot on that
type, provided JAR-FCL 2.240(a)(2),
2.250 or 2.255 as applicable, are met.
(ii) for all other helicopters, has not
less than 350 hours flying experience as
a pilot on that type, provided JAR-FCL
2.250 or 2.255 as applicable, are met.
Plus the check ride, of course.

Thanks, GG. I quickly googled it and found some UK CAA guidance doc.
I read the FCL, but didn't remember the exact part number to post it. The UK CAA doc wasn't so specific.
