All good news from Sandown Airport since it was bought by Jonathan Owen and Tony Fowler a few weeks ago.

A landline telephone has now been installed - the new number is 01983 716 926. E-mail will be available by the weekend - [email protected] and the website (www.eghn.org.uk (http://www.eghn.org.uk/)) is about to be updated. Free WiFi is also available.

The tower frequency remains 119.275MHz. Please note that PPR is not required.

Landing fees have been reduced (what?). Typically a helicopter can now land for only £10.00. Full details are available on www.eghn.org.uk (http://www.eghn.org.uk/) / landing fees. Regretably fuel is still not available anywhere on the Isle of Wight, however efforts are being made at Sandown to resolve this.

Work to improve the facilities continues. Carla is still providing refreshments from the catering trailer whilst the team of volunteers labour to fit out a new cafe / clubroom for her.

We are on the look out for some new seaweed to feed to the pet met man (he lives somewhere under the tower). Hopefully he will provide us with some up-market weather rather that the rubbish so far this year.

So what is missing? Guess it is you. So get that aircraft out of the hangar and set course for Sandown - like now! See you there.

Please remember that Sandown (EGHN) has a website that is up-dated daily to show the airfield status and other important information, typically about the runway, taxiways, helizone and Carla's Café (CJ's) - what could be more important.

Sandown, including the café, will be CLOSED http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/src:www.pprune.org/get/images/smilies/sowee.gif for the Christmas break from 24 - 27 December (both dates inclusive) but will re-OPEN http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/src:www.pprune.org/get/images/smilies/smile.gif Saturday 28 December and remain open right through the New Year (please see the website for operational hours).

Keep an eye on the EVENTS page of the website to see what is going on. And why not book a fly-in at Sandown in 2014 at the good airfield with good food.

The website you need to add to your browser is www.eghn.org.uk (http://www.eghn.org.uk/) . Go on, do it now.

See you here.

Remember. Safety first. Always http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/src:www.pprune.org/get/images/smilies/smile.gif

Went there twice last month, can only recommend it. For the fixed wing though it can be boggy so better ring before launch.

Yesterday saw the re-opening of Sandown as it has forgotten to rain for a few days now, and may it remain so for a long time. Two rotary-wing, in addition to quite a few fixed wing, visited and sampled the food at Carla's Café.

Operation is currently on a PPR basis. Airfield status is up-dated daily at www.eghn.org.uk (http://www.eghn.org.uk) and PPR can on obtained on +44 (0) 1983 716 926.

So, see you soon?

The good news is that the rain has, so far, stayed away from the Isle of Wight and consequently the Isle of Wight Airport, Sandown (EGHN) remains open to incoming traffic, but please PPR as there are still some damp patches to avoid. +44 (0) 1983 716 926. 119.275MHz.

100LL fuel is now available. Please advise the tower if you require fuel as it is a fixed pump installation. Competitive price!!!

And, as the days are getting longer the café hours have been extended. Now open Monday to Friday from 1100-1600, Saturday and Sunday 1100-1700. Hot food served until 1500 hrs. These times are LOCAL.

See you there, soon.
