A 6-seater SEP Piper aircraft, i.e. something like a Lance or a Saratoga. Supposedly the aircraft was flying very low and circling overhead a house to greet relatives on the terrasse. This site reports that all 6 on board died.

Circling around a house? Looks like a spin-in according to that picture... a classic accident scenario.

That seems so stupid...

I wonder about that other bizzare 5x fatal piston twin crash in Switzerland, a year or so ago, discussed here, which seemed to have nil forward speed and a very high vertical speed, and more or less wrapped its wings around the mountain ridge, ejecting the cockpit "contents" in all directions.

Brilliant! Accident solved by looking at a picture. Who needs the AAIB (or Swiss equivalent)?

Weather stations close (by the lake geneva) reported above 100km/h of winds at lake level. Needless to say winds of such strength creates strong mechanical turbulence and rotors. A famous ski tour competition zermatt-verbier was cancelled in the middle of the race due to weather on sat morning. Reported winds in the alpine area (at altitude) were more than 200 km/h at its peaks. A known alpine refuge had half of its roof blown off - and these huts are built to withstand significant weather...
