Pretty cool to watch, that last pilot did really well.

Imagine a Cessna in those winds, if the jets are getting thrown around like that..

The video lookslike its been sped up ? No. Makes it look worse, but its not pleasant either.

Now there is some high stakes X-wind :E

Easy, land into wind width ways across the strip, I don't think LDA will be a problem :}

The video lookslike its been sped up ?
Thought so too initially, although the car driving past seems to be normal speed?

Because appropriate x-wind technique was used. The others didn't.

Yeah Ive watched it a couple of times now, the trees movement looks real time.

Anyone know what the x-wind component was?

I've seen the TGG G5 at Essendon take off in what would have been exceeding a 30 knot cross wind and it wasn't crabbing nearly as much as the aircraft on final in the video. At a guess, 40 knots, gusting 50. A mate was out in his yacht recently and had 60-70 knots; those windspeeds are not uncommon outside Australia, although we do get them here on occasions.

The crosswind limit for most commercial jets is 25/40knots, on a dry runway including gusts.

Regarding the video.... the movement of those aircraft approaching the runway seem very abrupt, which to me would indicate the video has been sped up somewhat.

If I was in a aeroplane moving around like that, I'd want out!

I used to fly in similar conditions when I worked in Shetland. It can get quite sporting. Especially at night onto icy runways. Sure as hell concentrated my mind!
