And here in Oz too. TV says record turnout at AWM Canberra, crowds increase each year.

And I can believe it - great Dawn Service here on the Gold Coast, and was bigger than last year.

Drizzle, cold and windy at Mt Macedon Memorial Dawn Service this morning, yet nearly 3,000 were there. With many, many youngsters showing their support; my daughter will be up for the London Dawn Service in a few hours :ok:

Glad I was on the motorbike, though: the traffic is probably still leaving!

This morning's dawn service in Brisbane was also well attended, and it is always nice to see youngsters making the effort.

We will remember them

Record turn out in the two services I attended. Glorious summery weather helped but they get bigger every year, even at 0600.

Both 11/11 and ANZAC must be preserved in our culture and its fantastic to see the turn out every year....here in HKG we are also remembering the fallen with a hard core hash, (hash house harriers...) and a full on barbie.

Brave, brave ANZACS all.

What would we have done without them?

I attended a Dawn Service. Yesterday, my two youngest granddaughters arrived full of busy as usual to tell me they'd both been doing "Anzacs" at school, and was I going to the Dawn parade, and could they come? So I told them I'd be leaving at 0545 and to be ready!

They were, with their mum, [our eldest daughter], so off we went, three generations, and to find that there were probably a couple of thousand people ahead of us, and many generations, so we weren't unique!

They had a beautiful soprano doing the hard work, and the weather was kind, and there's a bit of magic about going from total darkness to hearing the first bird calls and the sun coming up.

I once heard that those Kiwis and Aussies who died sort of accepted each and every loss, be it in Bomber Command or at ANZAC Cove, but worse would be if we didn't remember them. Well, from what I saw today the younger generations are not about to forget them.

I attended the moving Dawn ceremony at CENTCOM a couple of years ago...hope they still stage the event.

Didn't get to the AWM this year but last year, during the minutes silence, there was some noise ... a cockatoo screeching as it took off from a nearby gum tree, followed by a kookaburra doing it's morning thing and, right the end, a magpie warble to greet the sunrise. Magic. Brought a smile to many in the crowd around us.

Jumping Jack,
Yes they do and it was a thoughtful ceremony attended by multi national personnel with a beautiful and peaceful sunrise. Perhaps the last ceremony of that day!
