View Full Version : A French vs UK issued PPL (and other licences/ratings in general)

A question to those in the know. I am currently studying and hour building for my PPL to be issued in France. I have the option of having it issued here in France but by the UK CAA (i.e. sitting the exams and check rides here but for the UK licence) but are keen to get some thoughts on which, if any, is considered and/or viewed with any more or less regard.

I understand they are ultimately governed by the same body and that there should be no difference but my goal is to obtain my CPL and possibly build on a career from there. I know the French produce a large number of high calibre pilots but can/do employers consider a licence issued by an English speaking country with a slightly higher regard? Are there any other aspects between the two that I should consider before deciding on which licence to obtain?

Any comments/advice would be greatly appreciated.
