Ex serving. Please just do one and let us get on with it.

Finally decided after years of being a member of this forum it is now time to call it a day.
My problem is that there is an increasing number of threads about nothing and the number of ex mates banging their gums about stuff that doesn't concern them has just got me to the point that I ask myself "is this forum credible anymore?"
I reckon the answer is "not really"

I wish those serving all the best and those ex guys to stop sticking your noses in where they are not wanted.
If you were that bothered about what goes on in the current day RAF then you should have stayed in.

I'm an -ex, and yes, there is a problem sometimes when people like me jump in and put in an irrelevant two bob's worth where some up-to-date knowledge would have been better, but there's a wealth of knowledge out there amongst the members, stretching back to WWII even, which I find fascinating.

Sure, you have to sift out the rubbish, but that's the internet for you.

Having looked at the current list of threads within the military aircrew forum, I would say there were very few in which an ex-server could not contribute. Which of these threads require/demand input only from serving personnel rather than those with past experience who have left? The many youngsters who come to PPrune can learn a lot from the older hands, both serving and non-serving (surely).

If you are not interested in a thread about nothing then skip over it! As far as people sticking their noses in where they are not wanted, this is something the moderators should take up if it is the policy, or if the majority of regular contributors feel that way.

Perhaps people have more important reasons for leaving the Services than a desire to continue posting on PPrune.

Just to reflect that while one may think of one's self as "ex-serving", the reality is that we can all be called back to active duty after various lengths of time depending on our respective contracts, so it's best to try to stay current, especially in the current economic climate.

I'm living in hope of joining the first geriatric squadron. :ok:

Cannonfodder has obviously forgotten that those of us who are ex-serving are still involved in the development and production of the latest kit for HM Forces, so on some threads we might not be current, but on threads regarding future systems, you can bet that there are plenty ex-serving members who know a boat-load more than him... muppet.
