Looked on pprune/Net and saw some very negative posts so gave them a call.

Turns out that they must have paid attention. The cost was £25 inc VAT. Parking was free for 1st 90 minutes, and £4 per 24 hours after that. Handling is available if you want it, if you don't then you don't have to pay.

We went yesterday, and had a practise ILS when we arrived, no extra cost. AVGAS available, they fuelled the aicraft while we spent the afternoon down at the cafe and on the beach at Mawgan Porth. We walked down - was about 2 miles but after the flight down wanted to strech our legs, a taxi back with the airport based cab company was £10. The Fire cafe/restaurant is very recommended and if it was a warm day then an early start and a day on the beach is a very easy prospect.

They can even do PPLs now for the first time, since Plymouth Flying school moved there.

Lets hope this post bubbles to the top of the search list on Net searches ! Well worth a visit.

Thanks for posting the information, G-RICH. A long weekend in Newquay is one of the things on my flying to-do list for this summer. I was expecting to have to use Perranporth, but if Newquay Airport itself is a realistic option then that's fantastic! Thanks, Rich

That's super. It's a great day out.

But I think the price dropped a while ago, because I didn't see the previously mentioned £50+ last summer.

I think you will find that Perranporth is about half the cost, is a spectacular location with a coast walk to the beach, and one of the best icecream parlours to visit.
Thats before we get on to 'Ghost Spitfires' and genuine 'Typhoon' blast bays.
Support Perranporth, that has been supporting GA in Cornwall for decades.

POBJOY, whats that about ghost spitfires? :) I flew from Perranporth between 2004 and 2007 but never heard anything about ghost spitfires, sounds interesting though. :)

Perranporth is great but has no instrument approach.

Also, for Newquay, you spend the extra on the taxi.

Very often, the taxi costs much more than the airport. Cherbourg and Deauville are both fine examples - 25 quid each way.

There is a free landing voucher for Newquay in the May Pilot Mag- makes it worth a visit methinks!

rogerbucks - thanks, I'm interested in the free voucher although according to Pilot Magazine - buyamag.co.uk (http://www.buyamag.co.uk/Leisure-Magazines/Pilot), the May issue isn't published until the 26th April?

Methinks you may be thinking of the free landing voucher for Exeter in the Spring-edition Pilot mag?
