It's Wanaka again [every two years], and time for some scenic shots. Like the Al Deere Spitfire...in the Wanaka /Queenstown area. Photos taken from the former RNZAF Grumman Avenger by Brendon Deere.

In the Pentagon, it's Wanaka all the time!

I really enjoyed the Wanaka show a few years back but for those planning to attend for the first time I would like to pass on this advice. BOOK YOUR ACCOMODATION EARLY! The venue is miles from anywhere and it was a fair old commute every day from Queentown, which is a tourist resort.

Was at the Wanaka airstrip a week or so ago. I have to say that I was most disappointed at the Fighter Pilot's Museum. A Skyhawk, Vampire, Strikemaster, SE5 replica and a Hiller helo. All the rest was old cars, non-aviation art and displays about the deer industry. The building was smart though.

The other stuff was in a locked hangar over the road where only tantalising glimpses could be had of the Hurricane and other stuff. And there was a tarped Albatross out on the hardstanding.

Maybe I was there at the wrong time (it was also chucking it down with rain).
