View Full Version : RTR(P)-COP Renewal 2012
avicon 31st Mar 2012, 14:19 I know questions related to RT renewal have been asked before but the info given are now outdated. I have heard elsewhere that new guidelines are being followed by WPC Delhi for new issue and renewal of RTR permits.
----------------------
I would appreciate if someone could provide reliable information regarding this query.
My RTR(P) - COP was issued by WPC in May 2009 valid till May 2012
This was issued based on a foreign FRTOL licence.
INDIAN FRTOL was issued Jan 2011 valid till Jan 2016
----------------
As you can see the RTR(P) is due for renewal. I have gathered that I need to submit the form for rewal along with rs5000 DD and proof of 30 hrs of flying in the last 2 years. Is this information correct.
Will they issue the RTR for next 20 years as per the new rule?
How will the process of renewal be different if I let the RTR lapse and renew it at a later date.
As I have never given the exams for RT(due to foreign licence conversion) I take it that I do not need to sit the Part 1 exam?
Once RTR is issued, can I immediately have my FRTOL extended by DGCA (which only expires in 2016)
Many thanks in advance.
starmaid 4th Apr 2012, 19:38 Hey, any luck with your COP? did it work???
avicon 5th Apr 2012, 10:32 From what I have gathered, in order to renew the RTR I need to submit the following documents.
1) Photocopy of Logbook showing 30 hours of flying during the preceding 36 months. This is counted from the date of expiry of your Indian RTR backwards. Copy of first page of Logbook showing your name also reqd
If you dont have the 30 hours, you need to give Part 1 of the exam here in India.
2) Copy of your RTR issued by WPC New Delhi
3) Your foreign CPL along with Medical cert
4) Fill out application form 23 COP (good for it) and attach 2 passport size photographs.
5) Bank Draft drawn in favour of PAO(HQ), DOT, New Delhi for RS, 5000/- from STATE BANK OF INDIA only
Have these documents attested by a Gazetted Officer or Justice of the Peace.
Send these in a sealed envelope to the address in New Delhi which is mentioned on the COP 23 form, on top.
matthewgamm 7th Apr 2012, 10:43 Isn't the result sheet also one of the documents that is required to be submitted? If so, would appreciate if somebody could post a direct link to the 2009 results. I can't seem to get even the WPC site to open.
Thanks :ok:
bad_attitude 8th Apr 2012, 09:07 try using Internet Explorer to open the WPC website :ok:
matthewgamm 8th Apr 2012, 18:05 No luck even with IE.
pilot mumbai 8th Apr 2012, 18:27 unless u dont clear rtr part 1 exam........it remains rtr p so u get it for 3 years if you submit proof for 30 hrs. once u clear part 1 then u get rtr c for 20 years if u clear both part 1 and 2 u get it for lifetime. all this subjected to validity of your foreign frtol.
i hope it solves your query
bad_attitude 9th Apr 2012, 05:24 matt try this link WPC Home (http://210.212.79.13/)
starmaid 9th Apr 2012, 20:36 Hi Avicon,
Thanks for that info.
You mentioned I can get them attested by a Justice of the Peace. I hope this worked since I normally live in NZ. Thank you :)
Torque Skylon 12th Jun 2012, 06:28 "3) Your foreign CPL along with Medical cert"
Well regarding this do we need to give our foreign medical or Indian medical.
As I heard we don't need the Indian medical just the foreign medical.
I was informed that the process is about 4 month to get RTR P for 20years.
Please help, thks
Maverick100 17th Jun 2012, 13:32 Hey guys....I need ur help...
I have a UK RT which was issued in 2008 and valid till 2018. I had passed the RTR Part-1 exam in August, 2008.
My RTR license was valid till February, 2012 but due to unavoidable circumstances, I could not renew my RTR license.
My FRTOL is valid till March 2014.
Would appreciate your help. Thanks.
Tango Alpha November 20th Jun 2012, 13:58 Hey guys, I submitted my documents about a month back and haven't heard anything from the WPC fellows yet. Any idea who I can contact and inquire about my RTR status?
kush3370 21st Jun 2012, 06:31 I am assuming that you do not have the 30 hours in last 36 months from the date of expiry of your indian RT then In order to renew your RT now, you will have to appear for the Part-1 exam and when you happen to clear it then follow the procedure given below the list of successful candidate's list on wpc's website. All The very best....
kush3370 21st Jun 2012, 06:36 Do not be panic....it takes around 1.5 to 2 months for WPC to entertain you...it was around 2 months in my case (talking about 2011), keep calling the numbers found on WPC's website, you may get some reply someday if you are lucky enough.... meanwhile have patience...
avicon 21st Jun 2012, 07:32 @<hidden>
Did you submit Class1 or class2 foreign medical. How particular are they about these?
Any point going to the WPC office and requesting them to expedite the processing if you have to do some flying soon.
kush3370 21st Jun 2012, 09:03 In my case it was RTR(C) and not the RTR(P), so i had to appear for the Part-1 to renew it...cleared the part-1 and then sent the canadian RT along with that and bingo...i got the new one for 20 years...no medicals and no flying required. hope it helps..
avicon 21st Jun 2012, 12:17 what was the processing time in your case?
kush3370 21st Jun 2012, 12:35 It took around about 2 months....
avicon 21st Jun 2012, 13:19 And your Kanadian medical, was it class1 or class 2?
kush3370 22nd Jun 2012, 07:16 Refer my Previous post dude !!!
When you clear the Part-1, you neither need a medical nor a flying....clear the part-1 and follow the steps listed down at the end of result sheet on wpc's website...
austincjames 20th Jul 2012, 04:56 Is it Rs. 5000 or Rs. 50? It says on the form COP-23 that the draft is to be made for Rs. 50, which sounds about right. Rs. 5,000 is usually the type of money charged by the DGCA (NOT the WPC) for a new license/endorsement.

Speed bird 100 5th Nov 2012, 20:04 Guys, I have a UK FRTOL which was issued in 2008 and is valid until 2018.Based on this COP ie RTR(C) was issued to me by WPC after clearing PART 1 Exam ,which got expired in feb 2012.
Now how do I get it renewed .... just by giving PART 1 again or do I have to do 30 hrs of flying as well.... Please ADVISE.:ooh:
kush3370 6th Nov 2012, 03:59 yes all u need is to clear the part 1 once again . and your RTR(C) will be renewed for another 20 years. i repeat "another 20 years and not the life time". when you clear the part 1, you need not to worry about 30 hours of flying...
Cheers
Speed bird 100 6th Nov 2012, 06:23 @<hidden>,
appeciate ur quick response.... just for knowledge... what is 30 hrs regulation they have come up with... please advise on that.... thanks
pilotbaba 6th Nov 2012, 23:00 @<hidden>;
The 30 hrs is not a new thing, It was always there. Basically all it means that you have operated on an aircraft as a radio operator for 30 hrs in past 36 months.
Which means you could fly with your buddy as a safety pilot & operate radio or fly the a/c as PIC/ Dual whatever.
If you have 30 hrs in the past 36 months before your COP expired, then WPC has a provision that allows you renew late upto 1 or 2 yrs by paying the late fees.
The wpc website has a lot resourses but they are not easy to search.
Read the rules, then you may want to check with WPC & point out that particular provision & they will agree....
Yes, giving part 1 is always an option.
