Some phones supplied by Orange in the UK have a signal boost (UMA) feature which allows them to route calls via WiFi in low signal areas. Does anyone know if this feature is included in the phone as standard? For example would an HTC Desire bought on the open market still have the signal boost option when used with an Orange SIM card?

Tone,

A phone is a phone.... the operators just flog the phones from the
manufacturers.

I would suggest its a contractual matter between you and the operator as to what services are made available on your sim card and at what rates.

However, if you want to be double sure, just check the spec sheets available on the relevant manufacturer's website.
