I note that pilot recruitment will only be 450, down from 570 last year. sam_17 17th Mar 2012, 16:37 Does this 450 international recruitment drive for Emirates Airlines pilots include part-sponsorship or airline mentored schemes for British citizens and prospective trainee pilots like me wanting to undertake their integrated ATPL / MEIR / MCC / JOC flying courses or is this only for experienced first officers and captains ? student88 17th Mar 2012, 23:53 It'll most definitely be recruitment for experienced pilots. Get in the queue! toseg 18th Mar 2012, 14:26 I don't believe that they gonna hire direct captains other than UK passport holders or CAA license holders. halas 24th Mar 2012, 14:05 Wrong on both counts. Battle Star Galatica 29th Mar 2012, 16:13 Why do you say that ? Luke SkyToddler 30th Mar 2012, 06:28 Because there are dozens of other nationalities of pilots, who are as good if not better than UK ones, and who also have the benefit of not having a massive national superiority complex as soon as they go expat? GA Button 30th Mar 2012, 11:13 No Luke, there are dozens of other nationalities of pilots who THINK they're as good, if not better, than UK ones;) halas 30th Mar 2012, 18:56 Because the first couple of DEC intake batches are all ex-EK captains of varying nationalities. And they probably think that they are better than UK pilots purely because they think UK pilots think that that is what they are thinking :} GA Button 30th Mar 2012, 20:25 It's going to take me a while to figure that one out :ok: Pressurevalve 27th Apr 2012, 03:49 Has anyone done the interview with Emirates lately? Can you share some tips or what tools did you find useful to prepare for it? Cheers FANS 27th Apr 2012, 08:20 Wrong forum for this, but the future certainly isn't in the West! License to Fly 28th Apr 2012, 19:36 one of the biggest things EK looks for, is the fact you will not leave after 2-3 years. I met one of the EK captains last year who interviews and that was a big concern Love_joy 28th Apr 2012, 22:40 The future, at least short & medium term is certainly in the ME and East. Here in the west, we sold our souls a while ago and its payback time! So here I am, fat dumb and happy, but looking for the next path in life. I like Emirates, I like Dubai, I know myself and my family would be happy there. Although I will shortly be taking my first command with a UK top 5 carrier, all of my experience to date, TP, Jet, none of it counts in EK's eyes. In fact, they suggested I would need an additional 4 years of flying something on their list before they'd even look at me. Are they missing a trick, or are they spot on to be choosy? Al Murdoch 29th Apr 2012, 03:43 Well they don't seem to be having too much trouble filling the pilot vacancies, so it doesn't seem to be hurting them very much. Keylime 1st May 2012, 23:57 I do not understand why F/O's will go to airlines in Asia (such as KAL) with no chance for upgrade rather than go to Emirates and in 4-5 years be flying left seat on a B777. Maybe that is why several expat F/O's have left KAL and gone to Emirates. Even some of the korean F/O's are considering leaving KAL. That should tell you something. Ollie Onion 2nd May 2012, 08:46 Maybe they consider Asia because you don't get a job at Emirates just because you want one! There is quite a high failure rate for recruitment. Merchant Banker 2nd May 2012, 09:20 Does anyone know if they are ever likely to take on regional jet pilots again? An application in for over 3 years and nothing as yet. Shaka Zulu 2nd May 2012, 09:30 Have you ever followed up your application in those 3 years? I'd be amazed if they still had it on file... LLuCCiFeR 2nd May 2012, 09:38 I do not understand why F/O's will go to airlines in Asia (such as KAL) with no chance for upgrade rather than go to Emirates and in 4-5 years be flying left seat on a B777. Maybe that is why several expat F/O's have left KAL and gone to Emirates. Even some of the korean F/O's are considering leaving KAL. That should tell you something. I can understand your point about being a permanent contract FO and I also understand that KAL is not heaven on earth, but unfortunately there are no real good expat jobs in SE Asia anymore for those that don't want to live in the Middle East. :( Sure, an upgrade is nice and also an important step in someone's career, but lifestyle (living among nice & tolerant people, great food, nature, sports, outdoor activities etc) is also important and personally I would kill for a decent (read: national airline, not low cost!) permanent job in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, or Hong Kong. Emirates? That 'other-airline-in-the-UAE-that-nobody-is-allowed-to-mention?' Qatar? Middle East? No thanks, only if I really must, no matter how quick the upgrade or the money. I prefer to work in order to live, not the other way around trapped in an air conditioned sandbox, but hey, each to their own. Merchant Banker 2nd May 2012, 10:20 Ofcourse Shaka Zulu! They just don't want RJ pilots it seems. |
