I am a great enthusiast of the Ilyushin 62 but despite trying for some time, I have been unable to contact a pilot who is actually qualified on it...hopefully some Eastern European pilot will respond to me here or on my private e mail address below! I want to find out more about what it's like to fly compared with western types...

Seconded, the IL-62 was/is a lovely aircraft. I would imagine that the chances of finding ex-crew is small these days, but perhaps if you were to contact a German enthusiasts site, there might well be ex-Interflug pilots willing to share stories with you. Other than that contacts in Russia where there are many hundreds of rated pilots still flying ? Other than that there's always North Korea!

Try Flugkapitän Heinz-Dieter Kallbach. He's the Interflug pilot who landed an Il-62 in a field in 1989. Search for it on YouTube.
