I was really looking forward to the Croydon affair, and meeting all you peculiar pilots, to say nothing of a big band and a night in a nice hotel.....
Now it seems to have been cancelled....

But here's another affair that is definitely going ahead, at Shenington Gliding Club on 30 June, this year (2012). It marks the last Saturday evening of the Shenington Regionals; we are having a live band, dance leaders, a vinyl floor rolled out in the hangar, a buffet, vintage aircraft and vehicles, and no, not formal dress, but the girls are asked to wear lipstick, the men whatever uniform you can contrive (white silk scarf and a coat hanger?) suitable to the l940s theme.

Very very limited flyins might be arranged the day before. Shenington used to be known as RAF Edgehill, home of THE TEST FLYING OF THE WHITTLE JET, the ancestor of all jet engines.
So if a few of you chaps would like to join us, let me know. £15 if you book ahead, £20 on the door includes buffet. Can recommend nearby B&B's.

Can't quite commit just yet as I know there is an impending family do on or around that time but if dates do not conflict, I'm keen.

I wouldn't go that far but, and I hate to say this ... I do quite like the scent of Old Spice.
