View Full Version : Jobs that require only CPL tuaapache 25th Feb 2012, 10:55 Is there such jobs that only require CPL? Cheers LVL_CHG 25th Feb 2012, 11:03 I believe if you got a job bush flying in Africa then only a CPL is required. Others will confirm this no doubt. Flying Mechanic 25th Feb 2012, 11:16 Flight instructor, glider towing, air taxi, scenic flights, night fright on twins/singles under 5700, aerial survey, bank runs, cattle mustering, fish spotting, ..many jobs you dont need an ATPL. Guru8904 25th Feb 2012, 12:16 FM, I think tuaapache meant CPL vs CPL/IR and not CPL vs ATP zondaracer 25th Feb 2012, 12:42 The regs vary by country, but not having an instrument rating leaves you with little options. For example, in the US, a CPL holder without an instrument rating is restricted to daytime VFR flights within 50NM of the point of departure. So crop dusting would be an example of a job for CPL without IR. tuaapache 25th Feb 2012, 15:05 Better go get myself Meir. I don't know if you guys have heard this policy before and I am not sure if this applies everywhere else but in Thailand they have this policy where if you don't train consistently the airlines will even look at your application. For example, after you got your ppl you went on vacation or to work for a while and then finish the cpl later on. From my point of view , I think they should judge each applicant whether they have the skills and ability to become a pilot not judge but I guess my opinion meanimgless. Can you guys voice your opinion on this. Cheers Bealzebub 26th Feb 2012, 05:47 It is worth also remembering that whilst there may be a few jobs that only require a CPL, there are very few would be applicants for those jobs that don't hold the superior qualification. For every job out there, there is a long queue of applicants, and basic qualification isn't likely to give you much of an advanatage. tuaapache 26th Feb 2012, 07:29 That is absolutely true. When I was doing my CPL training in Australia, I thought I was going to get the job after the course but I then found out that even the low hours jobs such as tug glider, parachuting pilot, banner towing, etc You would need to have some experience before. On top of that I am not an Australian resident, so chances of me getting any jobs is zero. Not sure if getting a job would be easier back then though. I've heard of someone who is not an Australian resident but got a job as a parachuting pilot, I don't know how he got the job though. km5 26th Feb 2012, 12:14 There were two guys form my flight school that had only CPL's and were flying light aircraft for aerial photography. The pay was just above instructor pay and they said they really enjoyed the work. tuaapache 26th Feb 2012, 13:15 Are they australian resident? Cleared for take-off 27th Feb 2012, 13:30 km5, are you referring to Australia or elsewhere? Do you know who they work for? km5 27th Feb 2012, 14:56 One was working in France and I think he was from the UK, the other one was working out of Holland and he is Dutch. lingdee 3rd Mar 2012, 07:50 Can try Indonesia as they welcome people with CPL |
