One of the immortals no longer with us. "The citation for (his) DFC described him as "an outstanding leader"."
He was more. Calm in crisis, radiated warm authority and stayed above life's minor irritations. When in his presence on the flight deck one knew osmotically everything would be well. Somehow, no body or thing would disturb his grace and simple dignity. It was a pleasure flying with such a gentleman.
