CASA: induction to aviation

a young australian lad of seventeen applied for a student pilots license.

this kid, very bright at high school, jumped from year nine to year eleven. because he excelled in that year he was admitted to university at sixteen and completed a heap of units for the year.

CASA will not issue his student ticket as they refuse to recognize a statutory declaration or record of achievment as sufficient for basic english because he did not finish high school.

Need for a licence? If he's got real smarts, it wont be long and he will be able to buy his own corporate set up with employee pilots!!!!!!

Put the heat back on Education Department and tell them that CASA refuses to recognise their Education Standards and what are they going to do about it?

There may also be some legal avenue of forcing CASA to recognise Australian education standards. Maybe the education department can help.

Education is like money it's only worth something if it is accepted by someone. Some companies in non aviation industries refuse to hire people from particular universities or only from others. The onus is on on the supplier of education to have their qualifications recognised.

that will not work, when CASA can tell even the Govmint to get stuffed, what hope some school.
Change his name to, Who Flung Dung,or similar, shot over to China and pay for a dodgy certificate and he's sweet.
Then again, if the rumours are correct, find the right person to slip the paper bag to in CASA and it all goes away.

I failed English at High School level but am now about to complete a Master's degree anyway (also have a pilot's licence). HSC does not, and should not matter.

It is a waste of time, energy and money, trying to beat the system; especially dealing with the Corporation Against Sensible Aviation. It is much easier to undertake something like the Tertiary Enabling Program (TEP) and get the required "pass marks".

Should be a walk in the park for someone as bright as your young bloke. If TEP gets the required passes for entry into uni programs for people who did not complete the HSC, it should be good enough for the bureaucrats.

The SPL requires only a stat dec stating that the applicant has completed their secondary schooling in Australia. As simple as that. Nothing about what marks you had to achieve or that it had to be Year 12.

I agree with Glen, perhaps the lad is not so bright after all. Sounds to me like he added more information to the form than necessary for getting a SPL. For this malfeance he now must pay the piper.

Completing secondary schooling is attending until able to legally quit regardless of grades or years.

Additional info will always confuse ....
