Hello,

I would like to rent a C172 or similar aircraft and fly in Papua New Guinea next spring,
any one have recent flying experience feedback about this region, like license requirement, fly permission, visa requirement ?
Should it be better to rent a plane in Australia and fly over ?
Any know flying club or similar in Papua New Guinea ?

Thanks for all tips

Tetrimmo,

I asked your question of a member on another aviation forum I frequent as he is based in PPNG & flies from there. This is his response..

There are no airplanes for rent in PNG. The only way to go anywhere is to charter

Might be worth enquiring further on the GD & P section of pprune?

Back in the early 80's I learned to fly at the South Pacific Aero Club in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea - now it seems to have become just a drinking club. Port Moresby Aero Club - Papua New Guinea Aviation (http://www.pngair.com/photopost/showphoto.php/photo/18)

I'd suggest you learn something about tropical weather first.......!:=
