Hi all,

Just thinking about the costs of hiring a clubs plane and it can get costly for a long trip...

So does anyone know of a share available in midlands area for cessna 152,172 or 182?

Im keen to fly as often as i can but its just too pricey to go further afield

I think there is a 172 share going at Derby – they may have decided to sell the aircraft though.

I don't understand why you are looking for "a 152, 172 or 182". The difference between the mission capability and cost of a 152 and a 182 is HUGE.

If you're looking to invest in a share, you'd probably want to define your mission capabilities first. 2 POB, 4 POB? Range, speed? Then decide on the aircraft type that you need.

If your mission is 2 POB at 90 knots or so, look for a C152, C162, PA38 or similar. Or look at the VLA/MLA/LAA scene, where lots of 2-seaters can be found that have the same load hauling capabilities as a 152, but at a vastly lower cost, and with considerably more speed than the 152.

If your mission is 3-4 POB look for a C172, PA28, TB10, DR400 or similar aircraft. And if your mission is 4 POB, full fuel and baggage, look at the C182, or at six-seaters.

But don't worry about converting to a new brand when you have only flown Cessna's before. To get checked out on a new type of non-complex SEP will usually only take an hour or so. For complex SEP types (retractable gear, constant speed prop, ...) figure two to five hours depending on prior experience.

There's probably a 152 share going at Derby as well. Give Derby Aeroclub a call on 01283 733803 and ask if the Hotel Kilo Group are advertising a share. If there's a share up on their notice board, they'll give you the contact number.

Hi thanks ill give them a call

I prefer high wing which is why i mentioned the cessnas i would prefer a 4 seater for when my little girl is brave enough to join me and me wife but can get away with a 152 for a bit
