Hi,

I'm looking build up my hours for the CPL and I was just wondering if anyone knows a good deal in Scotland (possibly around the Lothians) for an hour building package or a cheaper share in a 152/pa38 or something similar.
If you hear something please let me know either here or PM me.

many thanks

ACS Perth and Leading Edge Cumbernauld (same Co.) have both types available with special deals for hour builders.
Landing fees at Perth included.

Thanks everyone, I'll probably pop in to Perth Airport on next weekend and then have a chat with the folks there and then see how it goes from there.
Any suggestions are still welcome :)

cheers

The Tri Pacer will be flying next Sat as there is a memorial flypast for the chap who used to look after the hanger and sadly passed away at the end of last year.

Probably best to wait until afternoon as their is a briefing at 10:00am and everyone will be pretty busy...

Here's a nice picture of the Tri Pacer from this Sat just passed, handsome chap in the RHS ;-)

Hi there, I'm new here!
I'm in the same position as nevergiveup35, I also want to build up my hours at a reasonable price in scotland so any advice would be much appreciated.

Also looking to do about 10hours xc before starting my cpl as all hours build to date have been glider towing. Does anyone have an aircraft in perth, kirknewton or cumbernauld, pref 172/PA28?

Don't overfill, do you need any special checks to tow gliders with a ppl? Where about did you use to do it?
Thanks

Aviador,
It wasn't me who had been glider towing, it was wiggy but I believe the preference is for you to be a glider pilot already then a club will train you from there. That may all change in April.

I'm sure someone will be along soon who knows more than me,

Aviator, In most cases you do require at least bronze C. If you look at gliderpilot.net , some clubs are looking for a tug pilot and may possibly take you on for the season without gliding experience.

D.O, Have spoken to him already as I'm looking to do CPL/IR also with ACS/Leading edge,. I have often found that private owners lease nice aircraft at good rates.

Seems to be a lot of private messaging on this thread...

Anyway, Border Air Training at Cumbernauld have C152, C172 and PA28. All in very good order and particularly well equipped with avionics. They structure your hours building too, in order that you are best prepared for your CPL.

WIGGY,

I have been directed to this post - I may have already spoken with you!

If not contact ACS/Leading Edge at Cumbernauld or Perth. There are special rates for hour-building if you are doing your commercial training with us at Perth.

Sorry to be a boring old fart but since noone's mentioned it yet I will...it's not about hours-building. It's about experience-building. Anyone can drill a hundred hours-worth of holes in the sky post-PPL. Use your time wisely and enjoy. Otherwise the CPL will be a real endurance test. And that's before you've gotten to the IR.
