It was certainly a 777-300 flt EK420 on Monday 16th Jan - we were on it.

Dubai – Perth 2 Daily service continues to be operated by Boeing 777-200LR. Claims from other aviation message board that 1 of 2 Daily switches to -300ER, is incorrect as time this post goes to press

Seems it's all going to Boeing! A343 and A345 hardly doing anything, other than Tunis (for a short while) and St. Petersburg.

Surely TUN is a complete waste of an ultra long ranger such as the A340-500? One wonders why they're even retained in the fleet when not used properly.

So if I'm reading the original post correctly, here's what I see for A330 layovers for fiscal year 2012/13

ADDIS ABABA --- begins 25 Mar 2012
ENTEBBE --- begins 25 Mar 2012
SAIGON --- begins 4 June 2012

TUNIS --- ends 25 Mar 2012
MAURITIUS --- ends 25 Mar 2012
MANCHESTER --- ends 01 June 2012
DUBLIN --- ends 01 July 2012
HONG KONG --- ends 30 Sept 2012
FRANKFURT --- ends 01 Oct 2012
MALTA --- Ends 01 Oct 2012
SAIGON --- ends 27 Oct 2012
NICE --- ends 28 Oct 2012

Or are Addis and Entebbe going to be long turnaround flights like Nairobi in the 330?

Indeed, never say never, however......

The A319 in question (notice I said THE A319 as there is only 1) is, I understand a heavily discounted 'gift' from Airbus to their biggest customer (by $ value) for use as an executive transport by EK Chairman upwards.

Do you not think that if minibus' were on the cards, we would have ordered more than 1 and if so it would have been announced with much fanfare as is the norm around here?

As a skipper on the Airbus, I can assure you that no-one has been informed of a 'selection process' hence the April 1st quip!!!:hmm:

Like I said... a load of very smelly poo poo!

The Zohan

I can assure you that no-one has been informed

well, somebody has to fly the one & only minibus right?

maybe royal wing pilots?

having said that, i know that somebody has been informed...

Are the airbus guys still doing mostly 1 and 2 day trips? If so, should that likely continue for the long term?

Craggenmore

I've already flown with one selected captain for the 319

"The 319 is invitation only. Based on performance, personality and appearance."

so basically who has ever snitched the most? tattle tales get the fast track at EK, right?

fatbus
3rd Feb 2012, 11:11
Why would you want to be fast tracked to the 319, it s only a 319 . Get over yourself if you think it special to be selected, that is a joke.
