Birmingham Airport continues to have a frequent number of AN-12s on freighter flights.

Today there were 5 different AN-12s on the deck along with 2 AN-26s, all do car part flights.:ok:

Was wondering does any other airport in the UK have such numbers of Russian airliner props on the deck at the same time, or is BHX very unique ?

Adding to the Antonov props, there may be an Antonov jet visit at the week in the shape of an AN74 (possibly a Motor Sich Airlines example) although this has yet to be confirmed

Presumably any UK airport near a big production line plant would see similar numbers of those aircraft at the same time, if that factory needed the same quantities of parts by air.
Think where those factories are located in the UK, and then the nearest airport capable of hosting those types will probably have experienced similar situations in the past.

Possibly slightly unusual at the moment though, as air transport is obviously very expensive in these austere times.

EMA gets many Antonov flights also. A full mixture

Have always wanted to see the An-225 after missing it at F'boro years ago. Any idea of where the best chance of seeing it might be in the UK? Presume it doesnt have any regular schedules?

My mates been there on and off most of the week and has some impressive photos to prove it. He said it was more like downtown Kiev than Kings Heath :ok:

Looking at some pics on another site: and I thought the very same, If you live in the Radleys, bring in the washing quick.

More importantly does the airport authority penalize the "Smoky Joe's" of the user base to reduce the emission levels..

There were some interesting departures yesterday from from BHX, I'm assuming it was weather related, anyone know? 33 was in use but they were doing a right turn straight after departure, most notably was a very low and smokey AN12 that went over my house (Castle Bromwich area) and quite literally shook 2 pictures of a wall!

Love having these around at the moment but they can be a bit loud.

Very nice to see AN-12s but sad to think we have nothing in the UK to do this sort of work. The ad-hoc freight airlines are no more.

The 225 is not a regular visitor to the UK. The last time I recall it being here was at Manchester a few years ago and I think East Mids a couple of weeks after that. Don't hold your breath, but you never know.

Best bet for the 225 is Prestwick

I think PIK, EMA or STN are usually first choice for the An-225 operator, based on a number of factors.

However, it has occasionally visted MAN/DSA etc when it suits all those involved.

A 225 visited DSA in February 2010
