Is Ģ37,000 pa for 2,000 hours (ie basic time) particularly low for Australia at the present time?

$AUS60,000 pa is the average basic salary for a junior doctor ("intern"), so it is arguable that $AUS56,000 is on the low side, but not a lot.

Given the price of food at the moment that ought to cover your monthly shop, so IMHO yes thats a bit low.

They are ripping you off. Though with only EASA and no CASA license you may have been offered an Unlicensed Technician rate.

Current AUS CASA casual LAME rate with your endorsements should be around $60 - $75 per hr.

Full time employment you should be on min $100K p.a. and even thats low!

Maybe It's a ploy to keep soap dodgers from taking Australian jobs!

Well don't take it.It is as simple as that. Do something else with your career. You're obviously smart enough to hold those licences, then surely you can apply your skills else where for a better pay.

My advice is to apply for a position in the mining sector. You will instantly be on about double that while retraining, have more actual time at home over the whole year, not have to live within cooee of an airport, and probably get appreciated for your work.

If unskilled labour can get $100K for cutting sandwiches and making beds in the Western Australian & Queensland mining towns, then surely you can too. Do you really love aeroplanes that much? :yuk:

Easy said bug but is it not notoriously difficult to get into the mining sector.

Why not come to Dubai. The pay is peanuts though,or should I say bananas!!!
