View Full Version : Looking for a FAA DE in RSA FlightSafety747 17th Jan 2012, 06:04 Could you PM me if you know of a FAA DE in South Africa. Help is much appreciated. B200Drvr 21st Jan 2012, 11:31 There is no FAA DE anywhere in Africa. Welshboyo 23rd Jan 2012, 04:45 now that is just not strictly factual. There is one in the Copperbelt in Zambia, not sure exactly where, or contact details, but he is there, and is providing testing for licenses. Fact as at mid 2011 unstable load 23rd Jan 2012, 05:35 Please have a good rummage around in the grey matter and try to locate more info on the gent. I for one would be keen to use his services. Solid Rust Twotter 23rd Jan 2012, 06:16 Isn't Tony Smit one? cavortingcheetah 23rd Jan 2012, 07:12 So was Tubby S. Tony Smit was an FAA examiner but to what level I do not know. I don't think he is at the CAA any longer. A call to someone in flight ops there might find the answer to the question insofar as South Africa is concerned. That is easily googles and the flight inspectors are listed under the parts under which they inspect. B200Drvr 23rd Jan 2012, 13:03 Tony, Tubby and I held FAA instructor certificates, the FAA will confirm that there is NO FAA DE in Africa. Contact the Frankfurt branch and chat to them, they are the responsible FSDO for Africa. Whilst FAA instructors can do renewals, and endorsements, we cannot issue licenses or category/class ratings. In order to do a license, instrument or multi rating, you are going to Europe or the USA. unstable load 23rd Jan 2012, 13:22 B200Drvr, In order to do a license, instrument or multi rating, you are going to Europe or the USA. Does that also apply for A&P, or is that USA only? Golf_Seirra 29th Jan 2012, 21:47 Just finished my TSA, FAA, AFSP etc.....it is not that much of a mission. You just need to be thorough ....biggest headache is getting a US visa...had to abandon my attempt to get it while I was in Europe for a ferry and go back to S.A. to apply. To answer the question, if it is an initial, just go to the states...prices in Europe too expensive. If it a renewal, depends who is going to looking carefully....but then I have not reached that bridge. |
