well i'd like to ask u a technical question about RR trent700 engine which is fitted on A330

as we know dat during borscope insp we have to rotate N1 ,N2 & N3 as well , N1 can be rotated by fan blades, N3 can be rotated by removing air starter pump & then rotate it (((or by removing hand cranking drive pad access panel which is located on da AGB frontface to crank it))) .

my question is in trnt700 eng , from where we rotate N2 spool during borscope inspl ?

NOTE: the info which in red color above is on A321 CFM56-5B eng's (for N2 hand cranking) , idk if its da same for trnt700 eng's or no , so correct me plz :ok:https://s-static.ak.facebook.com/images/blank.gif


another question , the pic bellow shows the hand cranking drive pad used during boroscope insp on A321 cfm56-5b eng , the question is when u crank from this position u crank N1 & N2 spools together or N2 spool only ?

You drive the IP (N2) compressor by opening the VIGV and then N2 first stage compressor blades can be accessed by sticking in a special tool (stick) between 2 fanblades and VIGV.
You will rotate the N2 'blade by blade'.

The handcrancking pad on youre picture drives only the N2!.

Or if your really lucky someone with skinny hands and arms can do the same with their fingers....They soon learn not to go too fast when they don't pull their fingers back quick enough to avoid the next approachining blade!:E:E

Mr A33Zab , thnx for ur answer , but i wanna know how to open the VIGV to ratate N2 spool , do u mean open the cowl or what , if u ve an explanatory pic plz show it to us :ok:


one more question , is engine Nacelle = cowl + pylon , or wt ?

If you don't know the basics of the Rolls engine and difference between cowling and VIGV, I suggest you'll leave that to a specialist.

Wow is he serious, this guy is just about to go to do a boroscope inspection as well.
