I have a thing called congenital fourth nerve palsy, been present since birth. Although having said that it's not very extreme and no doctor or optician ever noticed it until I actually went to them and described what was happening...

This thing is classed as a hypertropia, I believe, however, the class 1 requirements only mention Phoria and the two are considerably different. Long story short, tropia is caused by a weak eye muscle and causes the eye to drift away and you can't control it, in a phoria, the same thing happens but you can control it, like if you get tired and one eye might tend to drift off a bit, apparently very common.

Another difference between the two is that people who have my condition are able to compensate for it and have become acustomed to it and never experience the related double vision.

I'm going to an optician next week to see what the story is, but does anyone have any information about this, like is it something I'd get away with in the medical?

Thanks!
