View Full Version : DragonAir C Scale Sue Ridgepipe 1st Jan 2012, 12:18 There was a thread here a couple of days ago about a possible new pay scale at KA but it seems to have disappeared. Is anyone able to give us the details, and will they be starting expat recruitment again soon? And Then 1st Jan 2012, 21:33 C Scale has been announced so I don't know why the thread pulled. Package is aimed at poaching Hong Kong Express & Hong Kong Airlines pilots I guess. If expat pilots are already in Hong Kong working without housing allowance, why pay B Scale? KA puts pilots directly into the RHS with a few hundred hours. With the new MPL even less. They will shake the trees on this C Scale and take who ever falls. broadband circuit 2nd Jan 2012, 07:57 They will shake the trees on this C Scale and take who ever falls. When you shake the trees in the jungle, normally it's monkeys that fall out. Fly747 2nd Jan 2012, 08:17 To answer your question Sue it is believed that Dragonair are to start recruiting expats again with a new contract as of 1st April. This contract will be the same for all new joiners be they HKID holders or others. Current local pilots are being offered the opportunity to switch across to it too. MaximumAlpha 2nd Jan 2012, 15:05 How bad is the new C scale? I have a family friend who wants to join KA for DESO. Is anyone kind enough to pass me the new payscale? or is it on IntraCX / dragonet? Thanks :ok: ReverseFlight 2nd Jan 2012, 15:46 Why has every category in KA's career webpage only open to Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card holders ("must") ? It didn't used to read that way. ColonialFlyer 2nd Jan 2012, 20:08 It costs them for the working permit. Would you pay more if you could find someone to fill the vacancy with same qualities? ReverseFlight 3rd Jan 2012, 14:11 Ah ... welcome to the new C Scale ! scubawasp 4th Jan 2012, 06:47 I don't think anyone from HKA would be mad enough to join on a 'C' scale. They'd be better off where they are! The main attraction would have been the housing allowance. hongkongfooey 4th Jan 2012, 12:11 Wait here a sec........ Ah that's better, just changed my jocks after pi55ing myself laughing :E Dragonandon C scale, hands up who didn't see that coming, if you put your hand up take yourself off line straight away, you're too stupid to fly a space shuttle ;) 10-15 a/c over 5 years, really ? Are they still pedalling that bulls hit and are there really pilots dumb enough to believe it? 10 years plus to command, flogging around china in flogged out 320/321s and even more flogged out hand me down CX 330s, HKA starting too look good.....oh crap, did I say that out loud ? hongkongfooey 6th Jan 2012, 09:53 Ask the KA pilots whose family members have had life threatening illnesses how the KA medical insurance was :yuk: You'd think if you and your family had to breath poison every day they would at least look after you? DrunkenAir 7th Jan 2012, 02:56 You have have to be drunk AND stupid to take the  deal. :} And Then 7th Jan 2012, 06:14 Level Two says they won't drop the standard like they did during HKG Report just to attract people to sign up on C Scale. And if they can't get suitable pilots they will revert back to Expat B? Muwahahahahah. Fly747 12th Jan 2012, 13:26 Kathey, in case you haven't spotted it KA now recruiting DEFOs again. Dragonair - Careers : Flight Crew Position (http://www.dragonair.com/da/en_INTL/careers/flightcrewposition) Ka-life 13th Jan 2012, 09:25 They school allowance is 90 percent of EFS, max 3 kids I guess you can call it indexed. The special allowance is not indexed for C scale. Housing for B scale is indexed. karam 13th Jan 2012, 18:04 Anyone know any info about pay at HKA....and terms...no info so far.. hongkongfooey 14th Jan 2012, 06:57 Karam , no offense buddy but your research skills will need to be markedly better to get through the KA interview....see fly747s post above with the link ;) dpamember 27th Jan 2012, 11:13 Is this contract (if you can call it that) worth the paper its written on? What an utter joke! Nearly everything can be amended unilaterally or removed by the company at it's sole discretion, even the Child Education Allowance (Which is inferior compared to my current CEA). Most importantly is the EFP (Excess Flying Pay) Overtime Threshold and Payment Policy is not binding and can also be unilaterally amended or removed by the company. Imagine the mess considering all of us are contractually protected with regards to EFP whilst new recruits aren't. Not even a local pilot would be silly enough to sign over to this! No Housing, inferior Child Education Allowance, loose Contract etc Buyer Beware!! Algol 27th Jan 2012, 17:33 HKA's schedule is way better than KA's so it is possible to commute in HKA. TBH Kathey, it's not. Its all Short/Medium Haul, except for Moscow, and they just suspended that. When the LongHaul routes start to build up that situation may change. But for the moment, too many SIN/PVG/PEK/NRT turnarounds. And too many late night freighters. No commuting roster. Rostering staff keep leaving. hongkongfooey 30th Jan 2012, 04:58 Sad but true Kathey, when I started with KA I needed 20 aircraft to arrive or 120 pilots to leave, 3 1/2 years later I needed 20 aircraft to arrive or 120 pilots to leave. Even if the supposed 6 aircraft arrive in the next 2 years, that will put a command at around 10 years for anyone who joined post 2007. As for commuting, piece of cake with KA, its just a matter of how often you want to see your family. If once or twice a month is satisfactory you might be ok. And Then 30th Jan 2012, 10:02 Sadly, Dragonair is now one of those airlines you come to only if you have to. This new contract is a shafting. The Locals must be furious. Oh and well done the rocket surgeon who wants to screw crew with drinking Chinese bottled water. What do you think that little item will cost the company in spite? GMEDX 30th Jan 2012, 10:21 I seem to remember that Qatar sacked a Captain for drinking the company's Evian. That was the final straw for many and they are now leaving in droves! Nice one whichever manager thought of stopping the nasty flight crew drinking the FCL and JCL pax's water. Wonder how much it will cost indirectly? Baywatcher 30th Jan 2012, 11:04 What water are you meant to drink?! And Then 31st Jan 2012, 08:53 What water are you meant to drink?! A choice of either Bonaqua or Evian. They are the standard beverages. This is very stupid and the GMO should have a think about intervening. This middle management ill-will will put the workforce into a camouflaged work to rule. Stupid, stupid middle management! Oh, and yes, I drank Perrier all day today. Five cans. That's a hell of a lot more expensive than my bottle of Evian. dpamember 31st Jan 2012, 13:45 Where's the accountability? Ignoring fatigue and rest issues, screwing with COSs and trying to save a few cents on bl&@<hidden> drinking water!! WTF?? Get rid of these mis-managers, they're doing nothing but harm. Ka-life 5th Feb 2012, 04:01 Where did you get the 84 hours from? I agree that this contract is not worth the paper but can find the 84 hours. This job is a job for cadets or unemployed. Don't think I have ever seen such bad contract from an airline before (contract jobs yes but not directly from an airline.) I guess on the positive side...there is no HPS so they will not stick around for long...I guess 500 hours Five Green 6th Feb 2012, 06:02 Why put up with it ? There are some amazing deals flying in China. Once you get over he idea and talk to some of the expats there, you find out they are making great cash and flying less than us here in Hong Kong. Plus the salaries are Net, meaning when converted into home country taxed equivalents they are great contracts. Not only that but the check and training systems are on par or better than here !! On my way ! FG |
