Squipper George Robertson was commissioned into the RAF Engineering Branch from the Survival Equipment trade. George had achieved the rank of FS before making the transition, and consequently went on to act as the MoD Engineering Authority for SE & AEA in Lacon House. (His posting there was one of the few occasions, allegedly, where desk officers achieved a round pin in a round hole fit!)

During his time at the MoD he did much to raise the profile of the SE trade whilst providing invaluable advice and assistance to the Operational branches. I`m sure he will be fondly remembered by many aircrew and squippers alike.

Sadly, George passed away peacefully on afternoon of Monday the 19th December 2011.

His Funeral service is to be held at St Mary’s Church, Welton on the 16th Jan 2012 at 11.30 and a committal service will be held at Lincoln Crematorium at 1310. His family have said that whilst all are welcome, they request that flowers are from family only.
