Thinking about taking a quick jaunt up to Iceland for a few days between Christmas and New Years, with the family (wife and three teenagers). We like to go to out of the way places off season, and seems to me that Iceland in December fits that description.

Any suggestions on where to stay and activities? We're fairly adventurous -- but wondering if getting out into the wild in December there might be too much even for us. I know about the thermal pools, and enjoyed them myself as a child when I visited with my family in November many years ago.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi there.

I live in Iceland, domesti pilot. 2 friends of mine run a company specializing in tailor made tours, and sightseeing in Iceland, they are located in Reykjavik. They are probably not the cheapest, but if they are too steep for you, they can guide you elsewhere, their website is lux.is, ask for either Kalli or Oli, they are both top notch

PM me if you need further assistance

20Driver, saw the article. Motivated me even more to go. However, we were traveling on ZED passes, and the flights filled up in the days before. So we had to adjust our plan...now sitting on a beach in the Caribbean instead.
