hi all,

im in australia and started my student pilot licence back in 2006. since then, i started an aircraft maintenance engineering apprenticeship and my motivation for flying dropped. i have accumulated 70 hours and i havent even reached gfpt. this ofcourse is my fault as money needed to be spent elsewhere between the 1 lesson i did per month (if that) - pretty much relearning what i did last lesson.

now, ive have almost finished my apparenticeship and my family have decided to step in to fund the rest of my licences up to atpl. dont judge me, ive been on pretty crap money for the last 4 years and had no chance of saving the thousands of $$$ required.

i want to complete my training full time, could you recommend a good organisation either here in australia or overseas? my friend suggested going to the USA as flying is cheaper there, but then i would have to convert my licence to align with CASA correct? if so, how complicated is this process?

i look forward to your replies.

Well done for completing your apprenticeship with Qantas and welcome back to Pprune after 3 years and to the Wannabee forum in particular.

Firstly could I ask you to look at the various threads where I think you will find a lot of the answers to your questions? Try the search function and some of the sticky threads as a starter.

It is a very subjective topic and you will get a broad spectrum of responses especially from the sciolists (see the bottom of the page) who will use any thread to 'bang their drum'.

To prevent the last bit happening I will temporarily close the thread and ask you to PM me when you want it opened again!:ok:
