Any recollections or photos of my old airline Macedonian Aviation (nothing to do with the country) that I established at Southend in the early 1970s. Started with a DH104 Dove G-APZU from Lulsgate and until we got our own AOC it was operated for me by McAlpine Aviation at Luton. First DC3 was the ex BAC hack, G-AMPO that I bought at Filton. Went onto acquire another 4 Daks from BIA. After I sold out they went to Eastern Airways and some ended up with Air Atlantique. Went on to acquire HRH Prince Philip's Queens Flight DH 104 Devon VP961 (G-HBBC) together with the ex RNAS Sea Devon XK896 (G-RNAS) from Yeovilton for spares.
These were based at Filton for a few years until 'BC' was relocated to Compton Abbas and some idiot at Filton, without my consent took away 'AS' and sunk it in a flooded quarry near Chepstow for dive training!
To jog memories please visit my site: The Welbeck Estate Group (http://www.welbeckestate.com) and click on 'Aviation' about the Daks and Doves and if you are interested in ex RAF airfields or married quarters then click on 'Management profile and projects'
