Does anyone know if there are any plans for UA / CO to merge their handling operations at LHR or indeed why they have not done so already?

hopefully everything is going under one roof (Menzies Aviation seem to be the best choice as they are concentrating their work force for Star Alliance).

United self handle at Heathrow's T1, Continental are handled by Cobalt at T4, I would expect Continental to join the other STAR carriers in T1 asap if space can be found. With bmi likely to be winding down, it should be possible.

I suspect there is a union agreement that United need to self handle, I know there is with American.

The plan is for CO to leave T4 and move to T1 under United.
Probably will be late 2012 or 2013 after Heathrow East is completed.
Doubt it will be Menzies. Star Alliance means nothing. They lost Lufthansa recently.

Move to T2 surely?
