Are you sure it's not a scam ? Do a search for the thread on Pento Drilling.

Thank you guys for your kind answers!
Nobody asked me to put a dime, yet, ........ but it does look weird as nothing is on the web except for one page with very little information.
...And still noone with a good answer, which is a straight answer.
Cheers

A simple google of the company will take you to their home page where they have posted an alert about just this type of activity.
They have their own HR department and you are meant to apply to them. If they want you, they will pay everything for you, not the other way around.

Send him a made up reference number from Money Gram rather than Western Union, as their MCTN can easily be checked online to see if it's valid. When he gets back to you complaining send him a scanned copy of a filled in Money Gram receipt with two of the middle reference numbers transposed. He should then go back again to Money Gram. Two wasted trips, my record for one of these guys is three. :E

it's a total scam.
within the past 3 years they have "advertised" as "Petro Drilling" or "Geocean Limited"...amongst others.

having previous experience on the Dark Continent, i could smell this ad from a mile away when it posted.

typical african ops....

As a rule of thumb, if it requires the outlay of "fees" payable by Western Union or similar to "process" the application then it's bogus.

Also, the oil companies in Nigeria don't have their own flight departments, they are contracted out and you would be applying to Aero, Bristow, Pan African or Caverton for a flying related position.

worked for a legit Nigerian oil company for some time.
the only way that they meant busines is that they paid for everything to include my trip to simuflite, round trip tix back and forth to/from country, big-time cash for fuel and crew costs, security transportation, etc...

Don't send any money, and if you had read all of this thread, you would have already received this advice.

There are NO oil companies operating helicopters in Nigeria. They contract them from Bristow, PAAN, Caverton, and ACN.

Please do not part ways with your hard earned Cash. Its a scam or "FORMAT" like they like to call it down here. If it doesn't work out, they change Tactics or "FORMAT" and use another name, method, website, etc. No respectable Company should ask you to pay cash direct. Be very watchful and look for giveaways in the process. bad tenses, poor letterhead etc...

Why is it that the Nigerians so much into scamming the Planet. Are they better skilled and trained in administrative matters than other African nations...what makes them so good at this particular craft?

And why don't they apply these obvious talents to legitimate business?

It is good to see people trying to better themselves...but lying, cheating and scamming doesn't really work well in the longer term.

Then again, there seems to be a limitless supply of people out there that are willing to send money into black holes.

Although the message refers to a Nigerian oil company, and the scam is commonly referred to as a Nigerian scam, it could be anywhere on the planet. When you send money via Western Union it can be picked up anywhere there is a Western Union office.
