Just wondering if anyone know if it's possible to renew an ME IR in Florida. If so do I need to get visa or can I do it on the visa waiver program.

Generally, no dedicated vocational visa exists for short courses so use a waiver or a B visa. The level of training required is at the discretion of the FTO.

Contact details here (http://www.flyer.co.uk/overseaxm.php) for one of the overseas examiners.

I would suggest that you discuss it with the DSO (Designated School Official) at the School.
If you are planning to be there a few weeks then you may likely require a M1 visa. The school may demand that you have the visa for their own protection.
At the end of the day it is only going to cost you a couple of hundred pounds to get that visa which is not a lot in the grand scheme of things.

I doubt it. First of all you are not training for a FAA certificate or rating and besides, it is a renewal for a rating that you already hold.
Recurrency training, flight reviews, conversion training, check out for rental etc etc are all exempt from the M1 visa.

I know of a UK CAA examiner in Vero Beach, Florida.
He can be reached under the username "keygrip" on this forum.

Out of interest, why Florida rather than the UK? Unless of course you're longhaul CC and it's convenient, had a few friends hourbuild & more in the US because it fitted in with rosters.

B2N2 - whether training for a FAA or a JAA certificate does not matter when it comes to requiring a visa.
I mentioned the possibility of a visa - simply because in another post the OP had suggested also getting a MCC and the ME/IR renewal was a pre-req (expired 2 years). So I was reading between the lines...! Hence why I suggested that he "may" require the visa and to check with his DSO.
