View Full Version : Question for ATR pilots airman13 14th Oct 2011, 09:09 hi, what speed are you performing circling approach procedure? airman13 20th Oct 2011, 18:36 ok,I got it, no one of atr pilots is flying in circling approach procedure. empacher48 21st Oct 2011, 04:51 I'll put my hand up. The speed for the circling approach depends on what category you're flying the aircraft in. I currently operate the ATR 42, and our SOPs mandate flying Cat B speeds, so we fly the circling approach at 135kts. Other operators I know of operate their ATR 72s at Cat C speeds, so they perform the circling approach at 180kts. mad_jock 21st Oct 2011, 09:16 If you look at the circling approach design it gives the speeds that all the different CAT's and the associated protected areas. To be honest although I have done them it is very rare and alot of pilots the only circling approach they will have done will have been on there type rating in the sim. LeNautilus 21st Oct 2011, 09:43 Speed for circling approach: white bug in normal conditions white bug + 10 in icing conditions if that speed is 135 kt or less you use cat B minima, if more, cat C. airman13 28th Oct 2011, 07:44 this is the correct answer.congratulations LeNautilus! |
