Last week.

Fortunately, nobody dead, but it appears that a new Seahawk lost tail rotor drive on take off from Jefferson City, Missouri, on its way from New York to California. The fellow (apparently an aviation enthusiaist/spotter) who was filming the aircraft taking off was unfortunately distracted by watching the unexpected landing, so the moment of impact is missing. His camera began to point all over the place.

I am guessing ferry flight, delivery, since the article says it had about 20 hours on the airframe.

Further guess: just refueled, so heavy on a warm day. :uhoh:

T/R definitely looks like it's slowing down! After that, any arrival that leaves you walking is a good one!

Full Power, tail rotor fails on departure, and they recover sitting upright??

I think they did a good job and deserve a pat on the back, and a beer at the O-Club!

Cheers
W.

Yes, a pity about the left mainmount, but to come out of that mostly upright is a good thing. Could have been much worse.
