Hi all,

A question for airline guys.

Was just wondering how your procedures for a decompression over the Atlantic (or Pacific) look like? Descent from FL300+ to 100. And then? Go to an alternate at FL100? But fuel consumption shall be significantly higher at FL100 than 300???

The additional fuel burn is taken into account and an Equal Time Point is given on the flight plan. Typical alternates would be Kef, Shannon, Goose, or Azores depending on the point of failure and local weather there. At 10,000 there not much traffic, but there are recommended procedures for transiting other people's airspace on the way down to thicker air.
