Does anyone know if its possible to sit the Australian ATPL exams in NZ and where I might find any info about that?
Also are there significant differences in the two outside of the law differences?

Allow me to rephrase - If you have completed and passed your NZ ATPL, would it require much study to do the Australia ATPL?

If you have full NZ ATPL then you have no need to sit any exams. Just transfer it via the TTMRA.
If you only have the subjects. Which are useless, weigh up the cost of Aus exams and the cost of paying for a NZ flight test.
You will have to study, check out the costs with AFT.
