I have recently received a photograph of a 460 Sqn Lancaster. It shows the cockpit area with pilot Lyall Notley leaning out of it. The aircraft carries the name "Ells Delight", a cartoon fist hitting Hitler in the face, and 20 bomb symbols.

The question is, can anyone identify which Lancster this was please?

..you'll find more information by Googling Lyall Notley rather than the Lancaster. Good luck! TP

Yes, thanks for that; I have exhausted that avenue already.

Just looking at the 460 squadron website and it offers the following stats:

Killed in Action 51%
Killed in crashes 9%
Seriously injured in crashes 3%
Prisoners of War 12%
Evaders 1%
Survivors unharmed 24%

24%!

It would be interesting to see your photo if you can post it.

Steve

Have you tried this web site

http://www(DOT)lancaster-archive(DOT)com (http://www%28DOT%29lancaster-archive%28DOT%29com)

There seems to be quite a fair amount of expertise over there

Steve ....Just happened to stumble accross this thread and I know it's been a while but was curious as to your result in relation to Lyall Notley. Not sure what your interest is but I happened to be with Lyall yesterday.:)
