I am Klaus who - if you are the right Chris Miles - you will remember me as one of the people who lived at TESS'S HOUSE in Calgary. I am the guy who went to UofC Physical Ed; and had the candy apple red Honda 350 street bike (that I crashed a couple times). You gave me your white Buick car (or was it a Caddy?) when you left Calgary early 1970s.

So I joined this forum to post my search message.

To summarize, the CHRIS MILES I am trying to find must be about 70 years old now, was an oil scout in Calgary in the early 1970s, and left Canada after that. I think he lived in Hanoi more recently where he may have had a 3 storey house with roof top pool, had a private pilot's license when I knew him, and may have been active as an oil scout in Asia or as a pilot (at any level I suppose). It would be neat if it is the same Chris Miles mentioned in your Forum as the "original shag that recently moved to Cambodia". Any help to connect to my lost friend is most appreciated. What is an Oil Scout?

have you ever seen a grown man naked ?

Somebody who hides off site from an oil rig drilling an exploratory well and, using binoculars and listening and watching, they can come up with a pretty good diagnosis if the well is a dry hole, or what - including how deep. That info is worth millions to competing oil companies that hire the scouts. Oil spy? It is dangerous, exiciting and can be very lonely but highly rewarding. Not so different from what some pilots encounter. :eek:

I quite agree with you "oldchina". Honestly, I only posted here because this forum mentions a Chris Miles that recently moved to Cambodia. I am hoping he will answer.
