I remember a decade ago when the Eurocopter EC130B4 was revealed to be development of the popular AS350B3 even though in my head it looked more like a wider version of the EC120B!

To present day, looking at last years revealing of the 2 tonne Avic AC311 looks like Colibri at the front and the Squirrel at the rear. I can't second guess let alone read a crystal ball, but it be interesting to see if this would be a success compared to the Squirrel copy of the Z-11.IIRC, the Z-11 didn;t make much of an impact less with the PLAAF production wise unless anyone has any figures?

I wonder if the AC313 would make a good complementary airframe for offshore operations among the AS332, Z-8, AS365 and S-76 and S-92 currently there or it would be too large for the platforms.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

Do Chinese choppers cost less like Chinese cars do?

Err....

It looks like an AS350 with some 120/130 modifications to the front end.

Don't believe that the Z-8 is utilized offshore. While the AC313 evolution may have some applicability to AVIC's traditional markets, I'm not sure that the type would meet OGP standards.
