I was about to update my posts as promised on the West Midlands Airfields thread but it's been closed. So, thank you everyone for your suggestions. I have now been able to look at them on Google Earth with the RAF fields overlay and I'm sure that RAF Hednesford is the place I was looking for, especially as Sir TH says it had a grass strip. The Google Earth overlay also showed some other interesting sites which I shall look at when I'm down there some time and I shall make an effort to visit the German Cemetery too.
