Hi all

I am being transferred to BCN from the start of next month. I'm looking for somewhere to stay that is close to El Prat airport whilst also being near to shops and civilisation in general! I plan on commuting home on my days off and I would like to avoid bringing my car down to Spain if at all possible. I have searched the Internet but I have not had much joy. So if anyone has any suggestions or even a good website address it would be much appreciated.

You can check out these two sites. If you live within Barcelona, you can either take the train to the airport from estació Sants (which is connected to the subway line), or there is an Airport Bus that runs as early as 5AM and runs as late as 1AM and has pickup/dropoff spots from Plaça Catalunya and Plaça Espanya. The subway system in Barcelona starts running around 5AM (depends where you are), but there is also a night bus that can get you to the Airport Bus (Aerobus) before 5.

Castell de Fels is near the airport (on the other side of the airport than Barcelona), and they have a bus service to the airport, but I am not sure how early it runs as I don´t live in Castell de Fels.

I was going to suggest Castelldefells or Sitges to the south-west of the airport, both small and by the beach with a bit of a social scene to boot. Both have connections into the city centre and if too early for the bus to El Prat, there's always a taxi (assuming that your not paying to fly :=). If the beach life isn't your thing, well various areas in the centre, too many to mention and as always it depends on the neighbours. There's also the lovely area(s) to the north-west of the city (Tibidabo) that has a fantastic view of the city (a bit like the Hollywood Hills) where it might be possible to rent and the areas great for running/hiking/biking if that's your thing ? All areas mentioned can be reached within 30mins from the station at the airport except at crazy hours of the morning. I prefer the city in the autumn and winter, less crowded and more comfortable.
