EDI has a 1.5 mile runway. What aircraft
could operate to USA's west coast, Mexico
etc. Fully loaded with pax and fuel.?

Ah ah! Beg your pardon!!!

That's EDI / SFB to you!!!! There's one today in fact. If they stop it means that they are using a variation of the L10 that, although it has more seats, cannot make it the 3800nm to Florida.

To make it non-stop I would guess you'd need something with a good power to weight ratio, B777 maybe. Not much chance of that with the present infrastructure at EDI though. Almost 30 years and still no taxiways to the ends of 06/24. Criminal!
At least a new VCR is in the offing so you'll be able to physically "see" them backtracking.
